Have you ever spent three days straight shouting about beer? We have. Powderkeg went to Craft Beer Rising at the Old Truman Brewery in London for a bonanza of beer. With about 100 breweries representing and thousand of visitors, once you combined the buzz of beery chat with the great soundtrack from the DJs it was a deafening roar.

We had a stand plastered with Powderkeg, which was sponsored by Devon County Council, and boy did we represent Devon. The first thing most people ask is where you are from, and it seems most people have a link to Devon – either they went to uni in Devon, have family or friends in the county, or went on holiday in Devon as a child. People love Devon (and rightly so!).

We had a great time meeting people from all over the country, and got very enthusiastic responses to the beer. After trying some crazy, wacky, hazy and strong beers, people needed something clean and balanced to quaff, so both Speak Easy and Cut Loose fit the bill. The 6ixes and 7evens went down a storm as well, offering a more malty flavour in a heavily hop-forward environment.

It was interesting to go around and check out what beers other breweries are making too, we tasted some excellent ones. In particular we liked Fierce, Drygate, Brew By Numbers, Ilkley, and Garage from Barcelona. And now, weary and footsore but proud and happy, we have returned to Devon, swearing not to talk about beer for at least a week. Will that be possible?
